How to Make festive homemade Colored Popcorn!

In this article we teach you an easy way to make Colored Popcorn!. The Basic Information on what the recipe will have you do

We are going to show you how to make a batch of two colored popcorn using a bag of plain microwave popcorn and gelatin mix. So this is a colored popcorn with Jello mix project – as simple as can be! It is easy and a fun project for the kids. We follow that up with how to make Flavored colored popcorn – so that the popcorn is not just colored but has various flavors! Pretty cool huh?

Warning: Making Colored Popcorn involves heating ingredients on the stove and pouring the hot liquid over the popcorn. This would give a nasty burn if spilled so DON OT let the kids do this without supervision!!

Recipe Ingredients and Instructions

 Ingredients

1. 1 bag (12 cups) popped microwave popcorn. Plain unsalted.
2. 1/4 cup butter
3. 3 tablespoons corn syrup
4. 1/2 cup brown sugar
5. 2 3 ounce boxes of gelatin mix of different colors like red and blue.

You will also need:

1. a 1 quart pan
2. a baking pan sprayed with Pam

 Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees
2. Divide the popcorn into two bowls. Place one bowl aside.
3. Set the stove top on low and in a pan, melt butter
4. add the corn syrup and the brown sugar and 1 of the boxes of gelatin.
5. Stir the ingredients together in the pan as they heat.
6. Bring to boil with medium heat.
7. Continue to stir as you Reduce heat to low and simmer for five minutes.
8. Stir while it simmers.
9. Remove the pan from the heat and pour the colored mixture over the popcorn in the bowl
10. Immediately mix the popcorn and the colored mixture with a large spoon (it will be HOT)
11. Now spread the colored popcorn into the spam sprayed pan.
12. Bake in the 300 degree preheated oven for 10 minutes to harden the popcorn and its coating.
13. Carefully remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
14. The Popcorn will be stuck together where they touch so break it into pieces and put back in original bowl.

Now repeat the process for the second bowl of popcorn using the second color of Gelatin.

When both bowls of colored popcorn are done and cooled you can mix them for a festive and fun treat!!

How to Make Flavored Colored Popcorn!

OK to add the color coordinated flavor  follow the exact same instructions except use Jello .
